ULTRALIT GROUT PRO — Two-Component Material for Concrete Slurry Grouting and Repair

Fewer pores and cracks. Higher quality ground and polished surfaces.

ULTRALIT GROUT PRO is a low-viscosity, two-component polyurea compound designed to fill pores, pinholes, minor non-moving cracks, and small surface defects in concrete floors and terrazzo.

The product is intended for preparing surfaces for subsequent grinding and polishing. When mixed with dry quartz sand, it forms a hard repair compound that can be ground together with the surrounding concrete.

Applications

  • Slurry grouting of concrete floors after initial grinding.

  • Filling open pores and air-bubble holes (pinholes).

  • Repairing minor non-moving cracks and small surface defects.

  • Preparing concrete floors and terrazzo for subsequent grinding and polishing.

Advantages

  • Low viscosity for easier penetration into small surface imperfections.

  • Simple component mixing: A = 1:1 by volume.

  • Suitable for use with dry quartz sand.

  • Can be tinted using compatible pigments.

  • Manual application with a trowel or squeegee.

  • Working time of approximately 10–15 minutes.

  • Can typically be ground after approximately 4–5 hours.

  • Hardness after 24 hours: approximately Shore D 70 ±5.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound, dry, and free from dust, oil, contamination, and loose particles.

Before slurry grouting, grind the surface to open the pores, then thoroughly clean it using an industrial vacuum cleaner. Clean cracks and local defects throughout their accessible depth.

Before starting work, a trial application is recommended to assess pore filling, material consumption, and the colour of the repaired surface after grinding.

Mixing the Components and Adding Sand

Mix the contents of each container separately before dispensing.

Measure components A and B at a 1:1 ratio by volume. Combine them and mix thoroughly until homogeneous, scraping the sides and bottom of the mixing container.

After mixing components A+B, add dry quartz sand and mix again until the filler is evenly distributed.

Mixing ratio confirmed by testing

Component Volume
Component A 1 L
Component B 1 L
Dry quartz sand 1 L

This corresponds to an A:B ratio of 1:1:1 by volume, or a mixed binder-to-sand ratio of 1:0.5.

Sand is measured by volume. 1 litre of sand does not equal 1 kilogram.

Selecting Quartz Sand

Use dry, clean quartz sand. Select the grain size according to the width and depth of the defects being repaired.

A 0.3–1.7 mm fraction may be used for local defect filling. For fine pores, select a finer fraction and verify its suitability through a trial application. Grains that are too coarse may prevent proper filling of small holes.

Colour and Tinting

Once cured, the untinted material has a sand-coloured appearance.

To adjust the shade, add 2–5% of a pigment compatible with polyurea compounds to the ready-to-apply mixture of A+B and sand. Mix thoroughly until the colour is uniform.

The method of calculating the dosage, by weight or volume, must be confirmed against the pigment manufacturer's instructions. A trial application is recommended. Assess the final shade after curing and grinding.

Tinting does not guarantee an exact colour match between the repaired areas and the surrounding concrete.

Application

  1. Prepare a small batch that can be applied within the working time.

  2. Immediately after mixing, distribute the compound over the prepared area.

  3. Apply using a squeegee or metal trowel, working the material thoroughly into open pores, small cracks, and surface defects.

  4. Make several passes in different directions to ensure even filling.

  5. Remove excess material, leaving only the minimum amount necessary on the surface.

  6. Once sufficiently cured, grind off the remaining compound and continue processing the floor.

Do not leave the mixed material in the container for an extended period. Do not add water or solvents.

When working with larger kits, measure the components and sand in smaller batches while maintaining the specified mixing ratio.

Coverage and Yield

When mixing 1 L of component A + 1 L of component B + 1 L of dry quartz sand, the approximate coverage is 9–12 m², as confirmed by testing.

The consumption of components A+B, excluding sand, is approximately 0.17–0.22 L/m².

Kit size Total binder volume Sand added Approximate coverage
1 L A + 1 L B 2 L 1 L 9–12 m²
5 L A + 5 L B 10 L 5 L 45–60 m²*

Coverage for the 5+5 L kit is calculated proportionally from the test results obtained with the 1+1 L kit.

Actual consumption depends on the number, size, and depth of pores, the condition of the concrete, surface preparation, and application losses. Filling cracks and small cavities increases consumption, which depends on the volume of the defects.

The final volume of the repair mixture cannot be calculated by simply adding the volumes of the binder and dry sand, as the binder fills the spaces between the sand grains.

Working Time and Curing

Approximate values at a temperature of around +20°C:

Parameter Value
Working time 10–15 minutes
Tack-free time Approximately 3 hours
Ready for grinding Approximately 4–5 hours, subject to verification of curing
Hardness after 24 hours Shore D 70 ±5

The temperature of the material and substrate, batch size, and thickness of the applied material affect the reaction rate. Curing may take longer at lower temperatures.

Before grinding, ensure that the material has reached sufficient hardness and can be processed without being pulled out of the pores.

Limitations

ULTRALIT GROUT PRO is intended for filling non-moving defects. Do not use it as a substitute for an elastic sealant in expansion joints or active cracks.

The colour of filled areas may differ from the surrounding concrete. The final result should be assessed on a test area after curing and grinding.

Safety

Before use, consult the latest technical data sheet and safety data sheets for components A and B. Follow the specified working conditions and use the personal protective equipment indicated in those documents.
